This weekend retreat will focus on the meditation practices of Mindful Eating.  When we eat mindfully we involve all the senses by engaging our body and our mind.  We utilize color, texture, smell, taste, and sound to nurture our experience. We learn to pay attention to what our body really needs and why. To support cultivating our awareness, we will quiet the mind and open the heart through yoga, sitting and walking meditation.  Through these practices of deepening our inner awareness of the body and mind we will experience wisdom and compassion, which is our true nature. We can experience food as pleasure and nourishment while finding our right relationship to amount and quality in each moment. This workshop provides intensive training in the application of MB-EAT in a range of clinical settings.
Informed by Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and the basic principles of food intake regulation, the MB-EAT program employs mindfulness meditation, eating exercises, didactic instruction, and self-reflection to cultivate mindful awareness and a more balanced and positive relationship to eating and weight. MB-EAT, supported by National Institutes of Health-funded research, has demonstrated effectiveness in addressing issues with obesity and compulsive overeating.
This training teaches you a new way, which does not involve dieting, to help individuals struggling with their relationship to food. MB-EAT draws on mind-body connections and addresses nutrition and exercise needs in personalized and long-lasting ways.
Note Tuition includes the Eating for Awareness CD set. For those with a professional background treating eating issues and a personal meditation practice, this program provides the necessary skills for delivery of the MB-EAT program. For those with less experience in either of these areas, it provides an introduction to the issues and skills involved.
